(Cover) - EN Movies - Willem Dafoe says it was “fantastic” working with director Andrew Stanton on his first live-action movie.

The actor stars as Tars Tarkas in the science fiction film John Carter. The movie is based on the heroic protagonist of Edgar Rice Burroughs' 11-volume Barsoom series, and Willem says it was a delight to collaborate with filmmaker Andrew on the big screen adaptation.

“[It was] fantastic. Partly because it was a passion project and mostly because it’s a story he knew very well, he was very clear about what he wanted to do, very clear about what the priorities were. It was all about character and story,” he told Cover Media at the UK premiere of John Carter last night.

William stars alongside Taylor Kitsch in the sci-fi action movie. The Hollywood star says the 30-year-old Canadian actor was a joy to work with.

“Taylor’s great. He was really fun to watch, he was really fun to play scenes with,” he gushed.

“Basically, besides looking good, he’s quite athletic, and he did a lot of really difficult stunt work and he did it a very graceful way. That allowed [the creative team] to use him for basically everything!”

John Carter is released in the UK on March 9.
