Dwayne Johnson says he is “dying” to make a new casting announcement.

The 42-year-old actor is currently promoting his new film Hercules, and for days he’s been teasing about portraying a popular DC Comics superhero in a forthcoming feature.

And although this information has been top secret for months, Dwayne tells fans they will learn details soon.

“Yes, it is going to happen. I’ve been dying to announce it, by the way. We still have to find the right writer. We’re having two, three takes right now,” he revealed to Savannah Guthrie on The Today Show Tuesday. “But I’m very excited about it. It’s going to be great. I’ve been waiting a long time for this, and so have the fans, by the way.”

Dwayne has a number of action movies on the go at this time, as he is currently filming earthquake thriller San Andreas and he just wrapped Fast & Furious 7.

The race car franchise lost one of its stars last year after Paul Walker died in a car crash and the project was delayed a few months while colleagues grieved.

Dwayne thinks Fast & Furious 7 viewers will be impressed with what the heartbroken cast and crew members created.

“I do believe the fans are going to walk away from the movie — I think they’re going to be triggered emotionally because of Paul — but I also think that they’re going to walk away seeing a great movie,” he explained.

“The death of Paul, like anytime you lose a loved one, it rocks us to our core. It makes us love our loved ones that much stronger, every day, more powerful. And with Paul’s death, we all felt that the best thing collectively that we could do was create a little space and then try and make the best movie possible.”
