Amy Adams wouldn't know what to do with an Oscar.

The flame haired actress has become one of the most sought after leading ladies in Hollywood, thanks to lauded roles in movies such as American Hustle, Man of Steel and The Fighter.

While work is better than ever Amy is yet to bag herself a golden statue, despite being nominated a mighty five times.

"I wouldn't even know what to do with one if I got one at this point," Amy confessed to Love magazine. "There's no year that I was nominated and I didn't win that I thought, 'Boy, I should have won that'. Of course it would be nice, I mean I wouldn't give it back but it doesn't motivate my decisions or sense of self in any way."

Amy is currently one of three celebrities gracing the front of Love. The A-list cover stars also include Kendall Jenner and Adriana Lima.

Talking about her American Hustle co-star Jennifer Lawrence, who bagged an Oscar at the 2013 awards, Amy admits finding fame young would never have worked for her.

"I would've been a disaster. It would've been horrible. I can tell you from working with Jennifer that stardom is not organic within me like it is within her," the 39-year-old explained.

"If you could describe it and define it, then everyone would have figured it out."

Amy's break out movie role came in 2005's Junebug, although she had worked steadily in television and film with minor roles since the late '90s.

"It took me a long time to realise that there are things that certain people have that you cannot define and it's just innately who they are. If you try to emulate them or are jealous of it then it makes no sense. Just let it be," she smiled.

"You be you and you can have what you have. It just means what they have is something very unique."
