Pierce Brosnan has confirmed he’s in talks for a part in The Expendables 4.

Last month the 61-year-old actor publicly expressed his desire to appear in the next instalment of Sylvester Stallone’s action adventure franchise.

And it seems executives are also eager to get him on board, as Pierce reveals he’s recently entered talks with The Expendables 4 producer Avi Lerner.

“He offered me this job and I said, ‘Sure, why not have me read the script' Let’s talk money’,” Pierce told Extra of his and Avi’s meeting in Bulgaria.

The actor is an action-movie icon, having played James Bond in Die Another Day, The World Is Not Enough, Tomorrow Never Dies and GoldenEye.

Pierce previously spoke about how impressed he is with Sylvester’s approach to the genre.

“Sylvester Stallone is the one that's given us these wonderful platforms for actors who have and had careers to go play and have fun and to entertain,” he explained to Coming Soon.

“To bring a bunch of guys together who saved the world, fought the bad guys, and put them all on the same stage, that's crazy good.”

The Expendables was released in 2010 while its sequel, The Expendables 2, came out in 2012. The third instalment of the franchise, which is rumoured to be the final film, hit theatres on August 15.

Pierce is currently promoting his new film The November Man, in which he depicts a retired CIA agent named Peter Devereaux.

The movie centres on the deadly final assignment protagonist Peter accepts that pits him against his former colleague.

“Peter Devereaux is a hard man, but an honest man and a good man… yet fractured and tortured and mangled by being an operative,” Pierce explained to Extra. “He’s a sassy operative, a cultured badass.”

The November Man reaches US cinemas August 27.
