Rob Lowe says The Interview is his favourite film concept "ever, ever, ever, ever".

The 50-year-old actor has a small part in Seth Rogen and James Franco's new flick, which has garnered a lot of media attention. Seth and James stars as Aaron and Dave, who run a tabloid TV show and are astounded to discover North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is a fan. They set up an interview with him in Pyongyang, but are then recruited by the CIA to assassinate him. Unsurprisingly the premise has caused uproar, with North Korea complaining to the United Nations and threatening a "resolute and merciless" response against the US if it makes it to screens.

"[I have a] very fun, little bit in the new Seth Rogen and James Franco movie The Interview, which is my favourite concept of a movie ever. Ever, ever, ever, ever," Rob laughed to la-confidential-magazine.com. "Any time you can be affiliated with a movie where another rogue state threatens you with assassination, you know that you’re doing something right. So, I’m very happy about that. Although, clearly, I will never be going to North Korea."

On a lighter note, Rob is also involved with a cartoon which is going to air on Comedy Central. Although the two projects are poles apart he is excited to have such a varied career.

"I’m producing it, and I’m the lead character along with Elizabeth Banks, Will Forte and Kate Mara," he explained. "It’s a really great group of hilarious, wonderful people. It’s called Moonbeam City, and it’s a sort of neo-future world that’s very reminiscent of the 1980s, suspiciously. And I play a cop who definitely causes more crimes than he solves."

It's not just his own projects which get Rob's juices flowing; he's also looking forward to some other releases. Top of those is Christopher Nolan's secretive new project, which is about space travel.

"Interstellar. I’m all about Interstellar. It’s all about, 'When is Interstellar coming out?'" he said.
