Kate Winslet and her husband reportedly have phone therapy sessions when she is away filming.

The Oscar-winning actress has been married to Ned Rocknroll since December 2012 and they are parents to 12-month-old son Bear, while Kate also has daughter Mia and son Joe from previous relationships.

Although the couple try to spend as much time together as possible, Kate has to jet to film sets all over the world. The 39-year-old is currently shooting The Dressmaker in Australia, while their family home is in the UK. Time apart isn't easy, but the pair work hard to ensure they remain close.

"Ned and Kate go to therapy religiously. Even when she's away filming a movie, they have phone sessions with their therapist - and they're completely open about everything. From that trust comes deeper intimacy," an insider told the American edition of OK! magazine.

It seems the plan is working well, as the pair apparently couldn't happier. It's claimed they are "crazy about each other" and both believe being totally honest with each other is what makes it work so well.

Kate has spoken about her husband in the past, explaining she likes that he remains a man of mystery to others.

“Nobody knows him - it’s brilliant. They like to think they know him. They like to be judgmental because of his name and everything, but it’s fabulous because no one knows anything about him," she explained to Harper's Bazaar magazine earlier this year.

She has also praised the way he cares for her. The couple relocated from New York City to the UK in 2012 and she believes the decision has allowed her children to lead normal lives.

"I would be nothing now if I didn't have Ned. He came with me because he wants to look after me. I'm so lucky. We have this really normal life. I don't get followed. The kids never see paparazzi now," she previously told USA Today.

"I always want [my children] to know how lucky we all are because of my job. Most people never get to realise their dreams in their working life. Having that freedom of choice is extraordinary."
