James Corden still can't believe his luck at starring alongside Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp.

The British star took American audiences by storm after appearing on Broadway in hit show One Man, Two Guvnors. He credits the show with his current success, which includes the lead role in new musical flick Into the Woods. It has an impressive ensemble cast including Meryl, Johnny, Anna Kendrick and Emily Blunt.

"Yeah, you know you're just constantly waiting to be fired really. It's a genuine feeling of going, at some point somebody's going to go, 'We've made a huge mistake. We thought we were booking the other guy.' That's genuinely what it feels like!" James laughed on British TV show This Morning.

"But I'm very, very proud of the film and it's odd because people have just started to see it now. It's not out in America but there's been screenings and things like that and yeah, it's terrifying. People seem to really like it."

Also in the pipeline is James' appointment as host on US TV series The Late Late Show. He'll take over from Craig Ferguson on the CBS series in March and is terrified at the prospect.

"Although it's not going to be a conventional talk show in the sense of it's not going to be... it's going to be a lot of skits and fun and bit. We're going to try and do some song and dance.

"It's terrifying, it's just very, very scary. But like you say it just doesn't feel like something I could ever really... I just came to the conclusion that I'd rather regret doing something than not do something. And if it doesn't work, which it probably won't, I can go, 'Yeah I'm from High Wycombe. Of course it didn't work!' And come back and just carry on," he joked.
