Saoirse Ronan: Gosling sucks at email

Saoirse Ronan thinks Ryan Gosling is “so bad at emailing back”.

The Atonement actress stars in Lost River, which is Ryan’s directorial debut. But despite working closely on set, catching up with the 34-year-old afterwards has proven really difficult for Saoirse.

“Well I only heard the other day, from ‘The Gos,’” she confessed to MTV. “I have his email. He never emails anyone back. He’s so bad at emailing back, but he did email me the other day. I felt really lucky to receive his words.”

Lost River is Ryan’s first foray behind the camera and he premiered his work at the Cannes Film Festival in May last year.

However the film’s release date has remained up in the air with rumours that it will go straight to home video. However Saoirse did reveal that it would be available sooner rather than later for fans to see.

“He’s very excited about it,” the 20-year-old said. “I don’t think I can say anything about it yet, but people will get to see it sooner rather than later. And the poster is really cool for it. Go and see it for the poster alone.”

The Irish star has seen her career go from strength to strength after first coming to prominence in Atonement back in 2007. She always feels like she learns something new with every director she works with, and Ryan was no exception.

“He’s great. He’s the best. He’s very, very honest and self-assured; very confident and comfortable with who he is," she previously assured Refinery 29. "And because of that we all felt immediately relaxed with what we’re doing. Everything was improvised, really. We’d learn the dialogue the night before, and Ryan would make us ad-lib the whole thing. Every day was a surprise; you didn’t know what was going to happen, where your character was going to go, or what relationships were going to form.”
