January Jones wishes her three-year-old thought she was “cooler”.

The 37-year-old is mom to son Xander Dane. But despite the fame starring in critically acclaimed TV show Mad Men has brought her, she’s not sure it’s registered with her little boy.

“I kinda wish he thought I was cooler,” she told People magazine. “I don’t know if he gets it, what I do. I’m not sure. He’ll see me on a billboard or on TV and be like, ‘Oh that’s you.’”

Mad Men will enter its final seven episodes on Sunday. And January is sure that Xander will miss some of his favourites among her co-stars.

“It would be Jon Hamm or Aaron Staton, because he would play with Aaron,” she shared. “Even though he knows everyone, he gravitates more toward the dudes.”

While the blonde beauty is happy to see her son interacting with her close male friends, she has always remained tight lipped on who Xander’s father is. But one thing she has made clear is how much joy she gets from being a single mother.

“People keep saying, 'Oh poor you, being a single mom.' But I don't want to be pitied. I can do anything I want to do. I work, I date, I have friends. I have time for everything I had time for before," she previously told the UK edition of Glamour. "I just have an added amazing thing in my life. I don't think being a single mom is something I need to feel sorry about or need to go to group therapy over. It's really a joy in my life and that's it."
