Cillian Murphy delivers a strong and satisfying performance as a John - a man suffering with multiple personality disorder in the small, sleepy town of Peacock. When a freight train derails and crashes through John’s backyard the town’s eyes turn on him and both of his personalities are thrown into the spotlight in this chilling and modest psychological horror.

Susan Sarandon (Thelma and Louise) and Ellen Page (Juno) provide a strong supporting cast but despite all of the talent involved in this project there is an inescapable sense that something is missing. Whilst entertaining throughout its short 87 minute running time, upon reflection the film’s lack of substance becomes glaringly obvious. Granted “Peacock” is stylish and effortlessly creepy. But this is far from essential viewing - a status the film threatens to achieve but never obtains. Perhaps that’s why it has taken Lionsgate a little under three years to release this film on DVD in the United Kingdom.
Forgettable and inconsequential, this is far from the best example of its genre. Cillian Murphy stands out of the surrounding mediocrity. Difficult to recommend.
