The Bellas are back, bigger, louder and far more confident than before. When a malfunction leaves them disgraced in front of millions of fans, they have only one choice. Win the world championship and be reinstated as the national hero's that they are. Either that or face being the team remembered for baring more than their singing souls on the stage!

Pitch Perfect 2 is the net step in the ever growing Glee styled film franchises. Glee was phenomena and indirectly spawned a new generation of singing while your winning films. These were about people overcoming things as vast as depression, sexuality and not being able to open a door or use a mac book. The original film had songs and laughs which worked because it was unified under a simple story. This sequel follows along after two years and sees the Bella's moving on. It again has a focus on laughs and songs but develops characters. Instead of focusing on one it now opens the door to the others. This is the first plus point in the film. It does not exclude the exterior in favour of a main focal point. Often this is the problem that the producers have. They love this person so focus on them. Anna Kendrick was great as the main place in the first film but let us move on from her. We have done and that has helped the second film feel as if it deserves our participation.

The second thing it does very well is that it does not take itself seriously. You see that sometimes success means that you feel you have to add a front. This happened in films like Street Dance and Fast and Furious. These had to claw back the connection, one did the other did not. Pitch keeps it simple and fun without making it heavy or a front for a film about how great these people are. The stand out reason is Rebel Wilson. I never got her until this film and now I feel that she is awesome. Funny, Silly and takes the thing as it is. Well I was surprised. It is also a testament to Elizabeth Banks. You will never read this but I have to say this. Women are given tough breaks in Hollywood, Banks has proven that this is gender bias and gender prejudice that must be resolved.

These are the Bellas of the ball....
