Pritchard and Dainton ‘The Rise and Falls’ is a documentary on two members of welsh stunt and prank group Dirty Sanchez (Matthew Pritchard and Lee Dainton) and tells the story of how they met and how the group originated.

The film shows early archive footage of both Pritchard and Dainton’s early life growing up disillusioned in Wales and finding an outlet through skateboarding and displaying tricks, showing glimpses of the later carnage that became part of their highly successful MTV show.

Narrated by the irrepressive Howard Marks it goes on to tell the story of how they with the other members of Dirty Sanchez (Pancho & the unorthodox to say the least Dan Joyce) got signed to MTV and what really happened behind the scenes. Throughout there are numerous clips and footage filmed over 13 years that are genuinely hard to watch and extreme vulgarity is a mainstay (as anyone who watched the series can testify) however the comradery and unique banter between the group is evident throughout and elevates the action from being merely gratuitous.

As the narrative continues it states the problems the group faced behind the scenes amidst further footage of some of their more shocking antics and the touring stage show named 'Pritchard vs Dainton' where they inflict incredible pain on each other for a baying public’s entertainment up and down the land.

Overall the documentary compliments the series well as you get an idea about the groups’ origins and a certain amount of what happened behind the scenes. Although extremely shocking and completely repugnant throughout, their welsh charm and endearing banter comes across in spades as it did in the series – undoubtedly it’s not for everyone, however for an hour of mindless fun you can do a lot worse.
