Set in the jungle, Rio 2 takes Blu where he belongs but has never set foot: the Amazonian forest. Joined by his family, Jewel and their three bouncing children, he decides to go find their roots and unveil a whole flock of other blue parrots.

In Rio 2, Blu, the charismatic bird, is facing an important choice between two worlds: the humans’ and the wild. Used to living with people, Blu has been familiar with pancakes, IPods and GPS. But Jewel, his lover, belongs to the wild and when they found out that there could be other blue birds like them, hidden in the deep jungle of the Amazonian forest, she persuades Blu to go and find them.

On their way, they will have to face danger but also learn the ways of the wild. They will find friends and family but will meet old enemies too.

A great thing about Rio 2 is probably all the musical and dance numbers. There are unbelievably catchy and well made, really beautiful and neat. The carnival is a good excuse to cumulate those numbers. There is also a lot of funny moments like the training day that Blu is being taken through or a certain white bird’s reprise of “I Will Survive”.

As an adult, you will recognize many famous voices: Anne Hathaway is Jewel, Jesse Eisenberg is Blu, Bruno Mars as Roberto, Will I Am as Pedro the red rapping bird, Andy García as Eduardo and Kristin Chenoweth as Gabi, a poison dart frog. Overall, Rio 2 is good fun for both kids and parents.
