Sabotage

Michael Bishop is wounded while in Bosnia. He tried to free four hostages from the hands of terrorists but after killing those holding the four, he is shot and wounded by an American special forces solider and the four are assassinated. Now he is in America and it is six years later. However the pain of the event still has not left him and as he guards a high risk target, another assassination takes place. It begins too look like he is as much the culprit as the actual killer.

It is very common for those hip, young things to point at films like this and say that they are utter tripe.Often this comes from a passion to make their own version of pure cinema. In reality however it is as much about the lack of understanding of film production as it is too why the films were originally made in the first place. So to put this simply in context, in the 90s they had to produce a lot of films for the growing video and cable market. This meant that a lot of good directors like Tibor were able to hone skills for future projects. It also meant that a lot of terrible and dull films were put into production and were seen on tv, video and even now on Channel 5. Like it or not some of these films are really good, Buried Alive for instance is a masterpiece and lead to The Shawshank Rewdemption. I always feel it is better to give the film a chance in order to be as honest and as clear sighted as possible.

This film is not Buried Alive but is an excellent knock about bit of cinema for the small screen. It has blood, gore, bullets, bone cracks and story that is sufficient to get through (just!) Dacascos is somewhat of a simple actor in that he can act and kick. That is all you need for the role and he does it well. Carrie Anne Moss is prior to the Matrix but is just as hot and clever. Todd is great as a nasty bit of work and as Candyman is still in mind, he is perverted fun... Director Tibor is wise in his use of film techniques and he uses some slightly ropey effects well enough. The visual palette is 90s so dull hues and very grainy video like images are the norm. Overall the film is cool, violent fun but it is stuck very far in the past. Watch without any baggage and you might love its blood soaked and bullet storm fun, not very kinnetic but it is a watch worth doing...
