Here is the first of two DVD world premieres, both are Hammer Film classics and both star Oliver Reed in the lead.

The Scarlet Blade (1963) is a historical adventure set during the English Civil War, with Reed, Lionel Jeffries and Jack Hedley in the leads.

Romance is in the foreground, with two people from opposing camps, the Roundheads and the Cavaliers, falling for each other – almost like Romeo & Juliet.
Villainous Colonel Judd (L. Jeffries), an anti-royalist loyal to Oliver Cromwell, isn’t exactly happy about the Royalist sympathies that his pretty daughter Clare (June Thorburn) displays.
Judd’s right-hand man Captainn Sylvester (O. Reed) is a fierce enforcer for Cromwell’s parliament and he also happens to be June’s boyfriend. However, she hopelessly falls for Edward Beverley (J. Hedley) aka ‘The Scarlet Blade’ – a dashing Robin Hood kind of figure who leads the Royalist rebels. Can there really be a happy end in store?

The DVD can’t boast with any bonus material, but the movie can boast with plenty of action, fabulous costumes and impressive sets. Get it for nostalgia’s sake; they don’t make them like that anymore!
