“I'm through accepting limits 'cause someone says they're so, some things I cannot change but till I try, I'll never know!” With these words and the objective to always defy gravity Wicked is the 9th longest-running show in the West End.

Musicals will always stand as a separate discourse within the performing arts’ world. A very special discourse especially because of the magical bond they create between actors and spectators. They are a safe harbour displaying magnificent talents and Wicked is definitely the proof of this.

Not only is it one of the most touching stories about friendship and being different, but the script and the music are so powerful that the audience will never be disappointed.

The cast’s talent and chemistry is evident in every single performance, the costumes are incredible and the stage setting and direction are simply breath-taking.

Musicals work when they reach both an adult and a children public because they manage to touch every single spectator in a different way and make them relate to the characters.

A very special note should be given to the two fantastic leading ladies Emma Hatton, who plays Elphaba, and Savannah Stevenson, who plays Glinda (or Galinda if you fancy the letter “ga”). It is more and more difficult to find stories that do not only revolve around a romantic interest, but it is even more difficult to find stories that focus on female characters and their development. Elphaba and Glinda are two of the most well-rounded characters in contemporary shows. Each of them undergoes her journey of personal growth and both are a great example of female strength.

Oliver Saville, who plays Fiyero and who is a new cast member, also gives a stunning performance as well as all the characters that remind us of the original tale of Oz, thus providing a great set of references and a further bond with the audience who will always recognize the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion.

Wicked is simply magical and an experience that everyone should have at least once in a lifetime.
