Mindy Kaling has revealed that she is not "actively searching" for a partner.

The Office star explained that while she remains open to romance, she is not currently looking for a relationship and feels content with single life.

In a recent interview with Bustle, Kaling said she is not "actively searching for that person".

"I obviously have eyes and ears, and if there was someone that I had a crush on, of course I would react to that, but right now, there is not anyone out there," she continued. "It is crazy for someone like me, who only wrote about the pursuit of romance for so much of my life, to be very happy and content without a partner."

Kaling is mother to three children: Katherine, born in 2017, Spencer, born in 2020, and Anne, born in 2024.

While she publicly announced the births of her children, the actress has kept details surrounding her pregnancies private and has never revealed the identity of their father.

Kaling admitted that her decision to become a single mother initially "felt crazy", because although she always knew she wanted children, she was never a self-described "kid person".

"It's one of the biggest mysteries in my life, this fervent knowledge that I knew I had to have kids that was not based on any real love of children," she told the publication.

The actress and writer also referenced her close friend and collaborator B. J. Novak, who has long been the subject of speculation surrounding the paternity of her children.

"B.J., for instance, he's always been a kid person," she shared. "He has a brother who's 13 years younger than him, and he loved his little brother and just always has been a kid person. It's such a deep mystery why I needed to do it."

Kaling and Novak have both previously shut down rumours that he is the father of her children, confirming instead that he is their godfather.

The pair dated on and off between 2004 and 2007.
