Robert Pattinson thinks it would be "tough" to take his Batman into the wider DC Universe.
The 40-year-old actor reprises his role as the Caped Crusader in the upcoming The Batman Part II, which will see him reteam with director Matt Reeves, and he believes the filmmaker's depiction of Bruce Wayne and his vigilante alter ego is so "specific" that any sort of crossover with fellow comic book character Superman would be unlikely.
He told LADBible: “I think it would be kind of tough to have this version of Bruce outside of Matt's world.
“It’s one of the only characters I guess because of the length of the shoots but also it’s such a specific kind of [style], the tone of it gets inside you.”
Robert felt "strange" for some time after filming 2022's The Batman because he was constantly "in the dark".
He said: "I remember that happened to me the last time I did it, it took a while. You’re just in the dark, the whole time. Both mood-wise and light-wise, I can’t see anything for like months. It does affect you like you feel strange afterwards.”
Robert recently teased the upcoming sequel is a "real left turn" from the previous movie.
The 40-year-old actor first played the Caped Crusader and his alter ego Bruce Wayne in 2022's The Batman, and he's revealed the upcoming follow-up movie, which is scheduled for release in 2028, is "really ambitious" and a totally "different take" on the franchise from his first outing.
He told Collider: “It’s so ambitious. I mean, I sort of said the other day on something that the first one was a different take on a Batman movie, and this one is another.
"It’s a real left turn from the first one, but somehow it keeps elements of the kind of feel of it. But it just feels really ambitious, and I’m excited to see how it turns out.”
But the Odyssey actor admitted he's finding the action scenes harder to film now than he did a few years ago.
He told India's GQ magazine: "I’m in London here till the end of the year doing a Batman sequel.
"It’s good. I’m definitely feeling my age when fighting a lot. I’m literally like, 'Goddamn, this is significantly harder than it used to be.'
"But it’s really fun. And I think the movie’s going to be pretty great. It’s got a really, really fun cast, but it’s a marathon."
In July, it was revealed that Warner Bros. has pushed the sequel’s release to 18 February 2028, having previously scheduled it for October 2026 before moving it to October 2027.
Director Matt Reeves announced the latest release date alongside the first camera test footage of Robert reprising his role as Batman.
The sequel reunites the filmmaker with co-writer Mattson Tomlin and will feature a cast including Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch, although plot details and their character roles remain under wraps.
When the film's previous delay was announced, DC Studios co-head James Gunn defended the lengthy gap between instalments.
He wrote on Threads: “To be fair, a 5-year gap or more is fairly common in sequels.
“7 years between ‘Alien’ and ‘Aliens.’ 14 years between ‘Incredibles.’ 7 years between the first two ‘Terminators.’ 13 years between ‘Avatars.’ 36 years between ‘Top Guns.’ And, of course, six years between ‘Guardians Vol 2’ and ‘Vol 3.’”
