(Cover) - EN Movies - Sofia Coppola has never felt too "frustrated" by the Hollywood "boys’ club".

The director never takes on too many projects, with her latest movie called The Bling Ring. It stars Emma Watson and tells the true story of a group of teenagers who stole from celebrities' homes in Los Angeles.

Sofia understands many feel there is innate sexism within the film industry, but it's not something she concerns herself with too much.

"I haven’t, because I do my own projects. But recently I was being considered for a big project and they wanted it to be really girly and feminine and romantic and they were talking to me and they ended up going for some older guy who’d made a war movie, so moments like that you’re like, 'Aaaaagh!'" she told Stylist magazine. "There’s a boys’ club and every now and then I encounter it but I haven’t found it to be too frustrating as I’ve been able to do what I want to do."

Sofia has only directed a few movies, among them 2003's Lost in Translation and 2010's Somewhere. She can't understand how some people are so prolific in their careers, as for her every film demands her full attention for a long time.

"You have to find something you are really excited and passionate about because you spend such a long time working on it. It has to stay in your interest for three years – to make it and promote it – so it has to have enough to make you want to put that effort in but it’s hard to say exactly what that is," she said.

Sofia also spoke about the stars she would love to work with in the future. Elle Fanning starred alongside Stephen Dorff in Somewhere and Sofia enjoyed working with the now 15-year-old star.

If the opportunity ever arose, she would definitely team with her again.

"I loved working with Elle. I’d love to do something with Elle and Dakota [Fanning, Elle's sister] together. I like working with talent when they are new and starting and they can approach it in that way, but I also like working with older, experienced actors like Bill Murray," she explained. "I feel like I can learn a lot from them. But I do feel a connection with young women to show that point of view because it’s not as common in movies."
