Kathryn Hahn found sex scenes with Jason Bateman awkward.

The brunette actress has a total of six films currently in production, or being filmed. New movies Afternoon Delight and Bad Words, which co-stars Jason, are also just about to be released.

Bad Words centres around a former spelling bee loser who attempt to win the word competition as an adult. Kathryn plays Jenny Widgeon, who ends up in bed with Jason's character Guy Trilby.

"We have a couple of intimate scenes and yes, we were friends beforehand, which made it hilariously awkward. We literally put a bunch of pillows between us for some of those scenes," laughed Kathryn to British newspaper Metro.

On the subject of bad words, 40-year-old Kathryn admits she can't help but use expletives when bumping into things.

"Whenever I get hurt they come out. If I stub my toe, it’s very hard for me to stop myself – forgetting something. There are little triggers and I have to try and rewire my brain as a parent. You just have to," she confessed.

In Afternoon Delight, Kathryn takes centre stage alongside Juno Temple and Glee's Jane Lynch. The story follows stay-at-home mom Rachel who's frustrated with life. After visiting a strip club she decides to adopt one of the dancers as her live-in nanny.

In real life Kathryn tries to steer clear of such establishments, though she did end up at one once with her husband Ethan Sandler.

"Most of them are gross. Years ago, pre-children, my husband and I had gone to the one where we actually filmed, and we just giggled the whole time. Then Jill Soloway [writer and director] took us to one and got lap dances for Juno and me. My woman was incredibly talky, which surprised me. Maybe this was the co-dependent in me but I was definitely taking care of her while she was giving me the lapdance!" Kathryn giggled.
