Josh Gad has warned people against trying to recreate his latest sex scene as it's not as "enticing" as they'd think.

The actor stars as Noah in Wish I Was Here, which is directed by Zach Braff who also stars as a man who has to make some major life decisions.

Josh had to shoot a risqué sequence with co-star Ashley Greene for the film, but didn't find it much of a turn on.

"There is an intimate sex scene, where I wear an astronaut suit and Ashley wears a furry outfit," he told New York Post.

"In real life I would say it’s very possible you might asphyxiate yourself if you do that. I wouldn’t recommend it... It turns out having sex in an astronaut suit is not as easy or as enticing as it sounds."

Another name in Wish I Was Here is Pierce Gagnon, nine, and Zach found it tricky to watch his mouth around the young star.

Zach also appeared in 2013's Oz the Great and Powerful and was made to donate money whenever he uttered a profanity. He feels lucky a similar system wasn't in place this time around.

"I just [would skip] giving [them] singles and [be] like, ‘Here’s a $20. I am going to curse all day.' When you’re directing a movie... you need to curse," he laughed.

Josh was thrilled to win the role of Noah, who is different to the usual parts he plays. He's made his name in releases such as Love & Other Drugs and The Internship and enjoyed trying his hand at something new, not least because he brought some of his experiences to set.

"In Zach’s movie I’m a sheltered, complicated glass-is-half-empty character. I usually play outgoing jovial types. For real, I’m an open door. I put everything out there," he said.

“Growing up was complicated for me. My parents divorced. Religion was complex. I questioned my own faith. So I’ve brought my own experiences to this film. I have two kids. They... upend your universe. Opens my eyes to how I acted as a child. I see my own impasse. My own early thinking, when she speaks to me. Having children, you’re tainted with wisdom.”
