Chris Pine shares love for Craig Zobel

Chris Pine enjoyed exploring the "micro nuances" of human interaction in Z for Zachariah.

In the sci-fi film he plays a survivor of a nuclear disaster alongside Margot Robbie and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Directed by Craig Zobel, who is behind 2012's Compliance, Chris revealed what really drew him to pick this project.

"I'd seen Compliance a year before and fell in love with his work," he told Collider of the filmmaker.

"He's a sweet man, a good man, and what he does well is, he gets into the micro nuances between people and I wanted to be involved with these great actors."

12 Years a Slave star Chiwetel was also keen to get on board with Craig's latest venture.

"His style really lent itself to this: a limited number of us, exploring the human interaction of relationships in detail," he explained.

The cast added that the nuclear element is merely the "backdrop" and the important thing is the way the survivors interact with one another.

All three leads are doing amazingly right now; Margot is up for an EE Rising Star BAFTA, Chiwetel was Oscar nominated last year and Chris has scored parts in Star Trek, Horrible Bosses 2 and Into the Woods.

"I find it mind boggling," 24-year-old Margot admitted when asked about her success.

"I'm just grateful. I don't know why it's happening to me, but I'm gonna make the most of it."

Z for Zachariah premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last month and has an April release date in Denmark, with others yet to be confirmed.
