Alfie Allen finds it funny that only men bring up the scene in Game of Thrones where his penis is cut off.

The 28-year-old actor has become a household name thanks to his role as the spineless Theon Greyjoy in the hit fantasy series, which began in 2011.

His character was kidnapped and castrated in the third series and while it may seem like an obvious topic for female fans to bring up upon meeting him, Alfie has more interest from men.

"It's funny that that's what people remember, but weirdly it's only ever man who mention the penis thing," he laughed to British magazine Time Out London. "It's fun to play up to it sometimes, though. At the Paris convention I decided to draw a penis being cut off with a pair of scissors on one autograph I was signing. They loved it."

Alfie finds conventions held for Game of Thrones "nuts" and is overwhelmed by the fan art he receives. One in particular stands out for him, which was based on a photoshoot he did for a newspaper but the girl had added a floral headdress to her painting.

It isn't just his performance skills the star is known for; he's also the younger brother of musician Lily Allen. One of her songs is named after him and she opens the track referring to him smoking weed in his bedroom. Initially it was a struggle for Alfie to move on from the reputation his sister created, but he hasn't held it against her.

"It's followed me, definitely, but I've never wanted to stop my sister's creative juices. Essentially it's a song about love, so I don't let it bother me," he explained. "Yes, the video had a puppet of me w**king in bed. But who hasn't w**ked in bed'"
