Imogen Poots got an education in escorting by director Peter Bogdanovich.

The British actress plays call girl-and-actress Isabella in Peter's new flick She's Funny That Way, alongside an A-list cast including Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson and Rhys Ifans.

Some of the biggest names in cinema during the 50s and 60s were rumoured to have started out as escorts, and Peter, 75, was happy to school Imogen on the world's oldest profession.

"Not that he ever encountered it personally but, in terms of the girls he'd met through work, he educated me on what that profession really was," she told British newspaper Metro.

"I think a lot of the stuff that went down then will continue to go down now."

For her part of an aspiring Broadway actress, Imogen demonstrates a flawless New York accent. She relished the role and working with her co-stars. However, Owen's bountiful barnet left her a little puzzled.

"He has an extraordinary head of hair. In the mornings I would come into the make-up trailer and see his hair and I was like, what the hell is this'" she giggled.

Imogen got her big screen break ten years ago in V for Vendetta and has since stared in countless Hollywood flicks.

The 26-year-old actually prefers more independent movies, because of their lack of vanity. When it comes down to it though, she's just happy to be working.

"You start out thinking, 'Thank god I have an audition,' then, 'Thank god I have a job,' then, 'I feel lucky to be able to do stuff I'm crazy about.' Once you teach yourself to be honest about what you want, you find happiness that way," she smiled.
