Vin Diesel will be returning for Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

The 48-year-old actor voiced the character of Groot in James Gunn’s 2014 superhero movie.

And in a Facebook chat with fans, James confirmed that Vin will be reprising his role for the upcoming sequel.

When asked if Vin would be back as Groot, James replied with a simple: “Yes”.

The character doesn’t require much chatter from Vin, as he has little in the way of a script – sticking to monosyllables instead.

But he said in a previous interview there was something distinct about the character he found appealing.

“It appealed to the thespian in me,” he laughed to The Guardian last year. “You're talking about a very challenging character to pull off. How could you really create a whole character with three words? To really bring the emotion and chart the arc."

The news of Vin’s return comes as Jeremy Renner was questioned about whether he thinks a convergence between his vehicle The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy could happen.

As he spoke at Wizard World Chicago, Jeremy admitted he thinks a collaborative film is unlikely, simply due to timing issues.

“I think they'll probably do another Guardians, we still have Avengers 3 and 4 to go,” Jeremy said. “You're gonna be 80 [years old] by the time that comes out, and I'm certainly not going to be Hawkeye. I'm going to be Dead Guy."

But whether or not Jeremy’s Hawkeye would ever make an appearance in the Guardians movies, he is still a huge fan of the franchise.
