Christoph Waltz would happily star in a movie where every scene features himself and Samuel L. Jackson.

The two actors both appeared in Quentin Tarantino movies Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained, and have reunited for a third time on the upcoming The Legend of Tarzan, helmed by David Yates.

However, the pair don't actually share the screen together in their latest project, something Christoph wishes could have been different.

"That was one major regret – I didn’t have any scenes with him," he told m2now.com.nz. "I want to play a whole movie with Sam – every scene of that movie with Sam. He’s got the right stuff. He’s a true actor.

"When you watch his performance in this film, there are a lot of heavy situations, but never once does he get even remotely close to heavy-handedness. He really has the swing and the feel and the rhythm and the right touch. It is never burdened; there is always a sparkle. You can see the sense of the humour, even when there is serious stuff going on – which is the true sense of humour, by the way; the rest is joking. So this is really just fabulous."

He didn't spend much time with leading man Alexander Skarsgard either, who trained rigorously to get into shape for his role as King of the Jungle. But when Christoph did interact with the Swedish star, he did his best to be supportive and helpful, as he knew how much the main man had "on his shoulders".

One person Christoph did get to know well during production was Australian beauty Margot Robbie, who plays Tarzan's love interest Jane, and it seems she left an impression on the Oscar-winning performer.

"Yeah, and I have infinitely more scenes with her than with Alexander. Margot is just one of the loveliest creatures on Earth, and she’s just lovely to work with. She can play in the movie with Sam and me," he laughed.
