(Cover) - EN Movies - Michael Fassbender doesn’t understand why male nudity is a “big deal” when women “are always parading around naked” on the big screen.

The actor plays sex addict Brandon Sullivan in the new drama Shame.

The part required him to strip off for many scenes, but he doesn’t understand why people are interested in that.

“You know, like a guy is naked, and there’s a penis on camera, and it’s a big deal. Women are always parading around naked in films,” he said.

Michael is keen for people to understand the film properly. Brandon has carefully arranged his life around his addiction, so when his sister arrives to stay with him it causes problems.

The actor hopes people can see past the overt nature of the storyline and understand the turmoil his character goes through.

“There's this feeling of disgust with oneself, and shame, and self-loathing because my character has no control over his physical life,” he told the February edition of GQ magazine. “Then you go out and do it again to get rid of that shame; you double it, so it's a cyclical pattern. [Brandon's] drug is sex. So it's a physical urge; it's a physical necessity to get a fix."
