Picture: Shanti Fiennes singing and playing piano in the opening one-take scene in 'Diana In Love'

With awards season now fully underway, the Golden Globes race for Best Actress in a TV Movie or Mini-series is ramping up with Elizabeth Debicki and Shanti Fiennes receiving raves for portraying the same person, namely the late, beloved Princess Diana.

The Crown's final season, which shows everything about the last tragic month of Diana's life, has been getting eviscerated by the critics (The Guardian gave it 1 Star and said it was 'so bad it was basically an out-of-body experience). But Elizabeth Debicki's performance as Diana is weathering the storm, with many singling out her performance as better than the series itself.

Similar feedback has been written about Shanti Fiennes in 'Diana In Love'. While Shanti's film doesn't take us to Paris, the film does talk about the tragic night in 1997 in the past tense, with Diana's survivors' talking to camera in reality tv style confessional. The devices (or gimmicks?) in 'Diana In Love' work to an extent, but like The Crown, the performance of the lead helps the audience through the rough patches. Shanti Fiennes (niece of Oscar nominee Ralph Fiennes, great-niece of explorer Sir Rannulph Fiennes and distant cousin to the King himself) is truly a vision in 'Diana In Love' and Film News could see both Debicki and Fiennes being nominated for their respective Dianas. The Daily Mail wrote 'Shanti Fiennes, the niece of Ralph and Joseph, has the chance to join them as box office royalty with Diana In Love". The upcoming January broadcast of the Golden Globes - with two Dianas! - would be one for the ages. Currently both The Crown and Diana In Love have a 93% Audience Rating at Rotten Tomatoes.

The Crown Final Season is now streaming on Netflix. Diana In Love is now streaming on the Flamingo Network on Roku.
