Singer-songwriter Louise Burke joins cast of upcoming Netflix drama The Undertow

International translator turned singer-songwriter turned TV actor Louise Burke has been cast in Netflix’s upcoming drama ‘Undertow’ alongside international stars Jamie Dornan and Mackenzie Davies.

The series is a remake of the acclaimed 2019 Norwegian crime-drama Twin that follows a couple in a stale marriage that is interrupted by the return of the husband’s identical twin.

Burke’s casting in The Undertow follows the success of her two 2024 singles – Artist’s Rut and Benevolent not Malevolent. The singles released to rave reviews with Burke’s vocals as a consistent highlight. Cheers to the Vikings said of Artist’s Rut “… Burke’s exceptional vocals […] shine through” and Music Crowns told audiences to “keep an eye out for this extraordinary artist and her remarkable music”.

Audiences may be familiar with Louise from her role as the Princes’ royal nanny on the major Netflix hit The Crown, but what they may not know is the extensive work she has done as a UN translator. Rising through the ranks outside of the public gaze, Burke was translating for international organisations from UN agencies to European institutions. While this would have been enough for most people, when personal tragedy struck Burke, she knew that she had to follow her creative passions, launching her music and screen careers.

With support from the likes of acclaimed film director Danny Boyle who told Louise “you have music in your eyes” and legendary musician Amy Winehouse’s father saying, “Well it’s safe to say she can sing”, Louise Burke is undeniably one to watch. Audiences will be able to do so on screen when she appears in Netflix’s The Undertow which is expected to air in 2025.
