LONDON – Cinema purists and fans of large-format filmmaking have a new reason to visit the South Bank. Today, the BFI IMAX announced a prestigious new monthly strand, CHRISTOPHER NOLAN ON FILM, dedicated to showcasing the director’s iconic body of work in the format he champions most: IMAX 70mm.

This chronological journey through time, space, and memory serves as the ultimate countdown to Nolan’s next highly anticipated feature, The Odyssey, which is set to arrive on the UK’s largest screen on July 17, 2026.

The Ultimate Cinematic Journey

The retrospective kicks off in January 2025 with a marathon of The Dark Knight Trilogy. On Friday, January 30, audiences can experience the origin of the legend with Batman Begins, followed by the haunting brilliance of Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight. The weekend concludes on Saturday, January 31, with the epic scale of The Dark Knight Rises, a film that redefined the superhero genre for a generation.

As the months progress, the BFI IMAX will continue to celebrate the "wonder of Film on Film" with monthly screenings of Nolan’s most mind-bending and monumental works:

February: The dream-heist thriller Inception.

March: The galaxy-spanning emotional epic Interstellar.

April: The visceral, ticking-clock tension of Dunkirk.

May: The time-inverting action of Tenet.

June: The Academy Award-winning Oppenheimer, allowing viewers to witness the birth of the atomic age on an impeccable IMAX 70mm print.
