Comedian and actor George Fouracres has been announced as the host for the 47th annual London Critics’ Circle Film Awards, taking place in London on Sunday, 7 February 2027.
Widely regarded as one of Britain's most versatile comic performers, Fouracres is a breakout star of Saturday Night Live UK with extensive credits spanning television (Steve, The Franchise), stage work at Shakespeare’s Globe, and regular BBC Radio comedy contributions. Speaking on the announcement, Fouracres expressed his delight at taking on the hosting role, noting that he looks forward to celebrating the extraordinary range of filmmaking talent alongside the UK's top critics.
The prestigious ceremony is organised by the Film Section of the Critics’ Circle, the UK's longest-standing national critics' organisation. Voted for by 215 UK-based film critics, writers, and broadcasters, the awards evaluate films released in UK cinemas or on major streaming platforms between mid-February 2026 and mid-February 2027. Official nominations for the 2027 ceremony will be unveiled via a press release on 18 December 2026.
Film Section Chair Jane Crowther welcomed Fouracres to the lineup, stating that the organization intends to make the 47th edition "bigger and brighter than ever before" as it honors a deep bench of international and domestic cinematic achievements.
The upcoming event follows a high-profile 2026 ceremony where One Battle After Another dominated the honors list, taking home Film of the Year, Director of the Year, and Screenwriter of the Year. Timothée Chalamet and Jessie Buckley won Actor and Actress of the Year, while special career honors were presented to Cynthia Erivo (Derek Malcolm Award for Innovation) and Guillermo del Toro (Dilys Powell Award for Excellence in Film).
The 47th annual London Critics’ Circle Film Awards will be held on 7 February 2027 and streamed live via the Critics’ Circle Film Section’s official YouTube channel.
