STUDIOCANAL has announced the 20th anniversary theatrical re-release of Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar-winning masterpiece, Pan’s Labyrinth. The acclaimed dark fantasy will return to cinemas nationwide across the UK starting 30th October 2026, presented in a brand-new 4K restoration alongside special 3D and 35mm screenings via the new STUDIOCANAL CLASSICS label.

Supervised directly by del Toro, the new restoration was cut from the original 35mm camera negative and features an updated Dolby Atmos audio mix. The 4K presentation premiered earlier this year at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, marking exactly two decades since the film received a historic 22-minute standing ovation at its original world premiere. A specialized international team of over 600 artists at SDFX Studios also collaborated with del Toro to create an immersive 3D conversion. A 20th anniversary 4K UHD Collector’s Edition release will follow in 2027.

Set in 1944 Francoist Spain following the civil war, Pan’s Labyrinth follows young Ofelia (Ivana Baquero), who moves with her pregnant mother (Ariadna Gil) to a remote military outpost commanded by her ruthless stepfather, Captain Vidal (Sergi López). As Mercedes (Maribel Verdú), the housekeeper, secretly aids the anti-fascist resistance, Ofelia discovers a hidden labyrinth and meets a mysterious faun (Doug Jones), who reveals she may be the long-lost princess of an underground realm. To claim her crown, she must navigate three perilous tasks as her fantasy world collides with harsh reality.

Blending historical trauma with dark folklore, Pan’s Labyrinth remains one of modern cinema's most celebrated achievements, earning over 100 awards worldwide including three Academy Awards and two BAFTAs. Guillermo Navarro’s iconic cinematography and del Toro's visionary storytelling continue to resonate two decades after its initial release. The 20th anniversary campaign is accompanied by a new trailer and original release artwork created by illustrator James Jean.
