You should know before you read this that I’m a die hard Sex and the City fan. I loved the series and thought the first film was fantastic so when I sat down to watch this film I was thinking to myself however bad it is I’ll love it! Truth is (and it pains me to say this) I didn’t.

This film catches up with our favourite girlies two years on. Carrie is celebrating her two year anniversary with Big and Charlotte is struggling with her two children. Miranda hates her high flying job and Samantha is defying the onset of menopause by popping a multitude of pills and eating houmous! By meeting up with her ex Smith (more of him please!) Samantha manages to blag a luxury, all expenses paid trip for her and the gang to Abu Dhabi. I think this is the films major flaw. One of the wonderful things about Sex and the City is that it is just that, in the city. For me without that backdrop of New York it lost something.

When they arrive at their destination the opulence is good fun.Mirandas reaction to it is great to watch and it does make a change not to see her moaning! The scene of the girls singing feels like the good old days and I liked the scene with Miranda and Charlotte confessing how hard it is to be a mother whilst knocking back cocktails.

Aiden turns up just long enough to mess up Carries head but we all know her heart belongs to Big and with that winning smile and wink who can blame her! Samantha naturally ends up offending the whole country with her liberal attitude and has to be rescued from an angry mob. Of course, it all ends swimmingly with the girlies all happily back in NYC which is where I hope they’ll stay.

Judging by the number of times Carrie and Big referred to the fact that they weren’t going to have kids and that they were happy just the two of them I’m guessing that she’ll be pregnant in SATC3! Whatever happens, your fondness for the characters coupled with jaw dropping outfits keeps you watching and I’m sure this film will have women teetering through the doors in their droves. A word of advice, go with high heels and low expectations and you won’t be disappointed!
