Jackie Brown is Quentin Tarantino's hangout movie. Following the huge global success of Pulp Fiction, Tarantino has given the audience the chance to really get to know the characters by slowing the pace of the film down, and following the characters in their day to day life.

And what great characters there are! Samuel L Jackson plays Ordell Robbie, a Californian arms dealer who has made one million dollars and is now ready to spend the rest of his life living in luxury in Malaysia, paying staff peanuts to ensure his money will last!

The only problem is that his cash is in Mexico and he needs a way of smuggling it into the country. Enter Pam Grier, re Jackie Brown. An air stewardess who is no easy pushover and despite having Ordell as well as the Police looking over her shoulder, she has a few tricks up her sleeve.

As with previous Tarantino films expect violence and strong language as well as unexpected humour, but add a touch of romance as the leading lady falls for a bail bond agent who genuinely cares for her and does not take advantage like other men Jackie has to deal with.

Robert De Niro plays a role we are not used to seeing him in, a middle aged stoner fresh out of prison where the outside world is all new to him and his dazed persona adds to the comedy affect.

Jackie Brown is a great film with razor sharp dialect, the only down side being that its slightly too long timing in at a few minutes short of the two and a half hour mark. But don't let this put you off. It's a classic film and well worth seeing.
