Charlotte Hendrickx

Charlotte Hendrickx, is a diverse and multi-tasking, producer and actress, who just finished a new project and it looks like she’s got another winning film in the pocket. We asked her some questions about the latest success.

Welcome to Film News, Charlotte. Can you tell us about the new movie, ‘The Spell That Backfired?’

The film is about a young woman named Minnie who decides to use a magic spell to get back with her ex- boyfriend, Jared. But as the title predicts, she gets more than she bargained for when things go horribly wrong.

What was the most challenging part of the process?

Wearing two different hats on set. I play Minnie, the lead character in the film, but at the same time I’m also a producer on the project. So sometimes you confuse one hat with the other and you have to remind yourself that you can’t do both at the same time or both objectively. Thank heaven we form the right team on set to assist me in this!

The Film is currently doing its festival run. Tell us, how is it going so far?

The film is doing very well! You always hope for the best of course, but when it actually turns out that way things can’t go wrong anymore. This week alone we received an honorable mention at both the Milan Gold Awards and the London International Monthly Film Festival. This is on top of the awards we won last week at the Indie Short Fest for best actress and best romantic comedy along with an honorable mention at the Tokyo International Monthly Film Festival.

I am very happy with with how well this film is being received by festivals around the world and I am even more excited to see what else is to come!

When will we get the next “award” winning project?

I love that you’re already assuming that! Well, we just finished post-production on another project called ‘Ten Whys’ which will now start its festival run and, even though this is a completely different, quite touching story, I’m curious to see how people respond to this one. In any case, it looks good, because indeed, this week it has already received its first official selection for the Rome Prisma Film Awards.

Do you have more projects on the agenda?

Of course! Early next year we will start shooting a feature film here in LA and later in the year we will cross the border to the south for another feature with undoubtedly wonderful shoots. But you understand I can't say anything about that yet. We will talk about it later!
