“There’s a light over at the Frankenstein place…” and it’s a light that has been burning bright for the past fifty years. Yes, it was 50 years ago that Richard O’Brien’s musical The Rocky Horror Show’ was adapted for the big screen - hard to believe but true! It catapulted actor Tim Curry to prominence thanks to his iconic performance as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a transvestite alien scientist and well, let’s not forget the equally iconic soundtrack. So… let’s do the time warp again as we celebrate 50 years of Rocky Horror!

Unless you’ve inhabited a different planet called Transexual Transylvania for the past few decades, you ought to be familiar with the plot, in which a naive and quite frankly square young couple, Brad Majors (Barry Bostwick) and Janet Weiss (Susan Sarandon), who recently got engaged, make the fateful decision to celebrate their engagement with their former high school science teacher Dr. Everett von Scott (Jonathan Adams), as it was in his class that Brad and Janet met. While driving along the road to Scott’s house on a dark and rainy night (as you do), Brad is annoyed when he notices one the tyres is flat. To make matters worse, the couple aren’t exactly sure where they are either but remember that while driving along the road, they have passed a castle nearby.

Brad decided to make his way to the castle in the hope that there might be a telephone he can use to ring for help, with Janet adamant she will accompany him. As every hardcore Rocky Horror fan knows who ever attended a sing-along/dance-along cinema screening of the film this is the cue for holding a newspaper over your head to shield yourself from the imaginary rain. And of course, fans will also know that Brad and Janet’s encounter with the castle’s oddball inhabitants will change their conservative outlooks forever…

Rocky Horror Show creator Richard O’Brien slips into the part of Riff Raff - Frank-N-Furters’ ill-treated, hunchbacked dogsbody who, together with his sister Magenta (Patricia Quinn) hatches a plan to beam the castle back to planet Transexual Transylvania, albeit without the tyrannical Frank, while groupie Columbia (Little Nell) finds her loyalty to Frank compromised after the mad scientist kills her lover, rockabilly motorcyclist Eddie (Meat Loaf), with an ice axe. Then there’s Frank’s creation, Rocky Horror (Peter Hinwood) - a perfect specimen of man. Enter wild parties, orgies and rivalries, with Brad and Janet caught up in it all and on their path to sexual liberation… Things get even more decadent and out of hand when unexpectedly, Dr. Scott - now a government investigator of extraterrestrial lifeforms - turns up at the castle in search for his missing badass nephew Eddie.

It’s an absolute riot and the songs, many of which reference vintage horror movies, have become a staple at karaoke parties, from ‘Science Fiction/Double Feature’ to ‘The Time Warp’, from ‘Sweet Transvestite’ to ‘Rose Tint My World’ and more. So come and and join this outrageously camp party by treating yourself (or a friend) to the brand-new restored Blu-ray / Ultra HD or Steelbook version - sharper and more colourful than ever. Don’t dream it, be it!
