Ready Or Not 2: Here I come makes a promise with its tagline “Double or Nothing” - a promise it keeps and even overdelivers on. This sequel is everything the fans could have hoped for: it’s bigger, bloodier and funnier! The only thing it lacks are cigarette breaks…

If you go watch Ready Or Not 2: Here I come with someone who hadn’t seen the first Ready or Not, don’t worry about them picking up on the story. We pick up right where we left off, with Grace MacCaulley/Le Domas (interpreted by the genius reigning horror queen Samara Weaving) stepping out of a burning house, bloodied and beaten up after a terrifying night of hide and seek.

As the police and medics arrive, she collapses and is taken to the hospital - it’s a pretty short but wild trip. At the hospital, we meet Grace's estranged sister, Faith (played by the energetic Kathryn Newton), listed as the sole emergency contact in Grace’s file. As we catch up on the events of the previous night along with Faith, we also realise that the hide and seek game is still on and it has international ramifications: from China to Europe and back to the US, many new game players have entered the game.

Grace and Faith are now dragged back into the game as a duo, much against their will. But, fighting a bunch of power-hungry representatives of the rich elite of the world will bring them closer together. Fighting to survive has that kind of effect on people!

With the expansion of the game, there are a bunch of new rules to follow and it’s pretty joyful to the audience as it leads to some very funny and…explosive situations. Who will survive until dawn? You’ll have to watch the film to find out but trust me when I say I was doubting myself until the very end.

If you're a horror fan, you’ll appreciate the impeccable casting: Elijah Wood surprises as the Lawyer, cold-blooded and rule-following, he is just, incorruptible and keeps every player in check. Sarah Michele Gellar (the one and only Buffy, the vampire-slayer!) and Shawn Hatosy (who you’ll remember from The Faculty, circa 1998, which also featured Elijah Wood) play the Danforth twins: both are unhinged, violent, sadistic and ready to do whatever it takes to win the game.

Overall, Ready Or Not 2: Here I come is faithful to the spirit of the prequel - it is a strange blend of gore, horror, comedy and heartfelt feelings. Somehow, it works beautifully and makes for a great time! This new opus also flirts dangerously with the reality of today’s world, where it feels like there is definitely some sort of Satan-worshipping elite controlling everything…

I’ll let you watch the film and make up your mind! Enjoy!
