Sarah (Jessica Morris) is a successful podcaster delving into people’s problems and not shy with uncomfortable comments and advice. Having built a loyal following, she’s reluctant to let them go when a big offer comes in from New York.

The programme is interrupted by a hoax bomb threat. Sarah has been the target of crank calls in the past so its wasn’t totally unexpected and is somewhat reassured by Detective Sumner (Andrew Fultz). However the next day a caller called Edward manages to block all the lines leaving only him and Sarah on the air.

Edward has inside knowledge of Sarah’s life and what she has kept secret from her audience. It could seriously affect her credibility in the role she has cast herself.

His beef is that her advice ruined his marriage and the caller is looking to level. To up the threat level he’s kidnapped her husband’s lover Alice (Carly Diamond Stone). What follows is a tense stand-off where the to and fro between Edward and Sarah.

Made for TV and titled Her Life is on the Line, Killer on the Air is a fairly standard thriller notched up by some good tense scenes and a strong cast.

Directed by Haylie Duff and written by Jeremy M. Inman, Damián Romay and Aaron Strongoni there's an element of satire on this aspect of podcasting with how powerful, puffed up, presenters happy to dish out advice yet possibly having something in the closet themselves, and fear scrutiny.

The film takes a little time to get going as Edward drags Sarah through her past. It picks up in the last act when the pod tech team get involved, work out what Edward did to take over the show and they begin to counter his action. The twisty ending is a bit predictable but satisfying.

Killer on the Air will be on digital platforms from 18 May 2026. Distributed by Signature Entertainment.
