The Scandinavians especially the Danes are well known for dark crime thrillers. Last year with Love is all you need they produced one of the best romantic comedies of 2013 and now available in the UK is the 2010 balls to the wall comedy Klown the film version of the TV show in Denmark.

Words almost fail when trying to describe this road buddy movie. For a start it’s not on the road it’s on the river and in a canoe. The premise is that in order to prove his fatherhood potential to his pregnant girlfriend, Frank played by (Frank Hvam) 'kidnaps' her 12-year-old nephew and tags along on his best friend Casper's debauched weekend canoe trip. The debauched friend (Casper Christensen) who organised the trip originally only wanted to go so he can to the only open once a year Alley cat brothel. This film has jokes in that would make the Farrelly brothers blush although it is not in their gross out taste. It is more an adult Inbetweeners but if you watch this you’ll need to go in with your eyes open, calling it balls to the wall does not do this film justice. It is above all very funny and it is a shame that it won’t be seen by a larger audience due to it being in a foreign language. Doubtful that anyone will be able to remake this without it losing a lot in transition but it is one I will be recommending for a long time to come.
